This series is inspired by waste produced during the glassblowing process. Often when working with glass we are left with off cuts, trims and shards left from casualties of the process. These pieces are usually thrown out and discarded. I began collecting these pieces and scavenging through glass scrap bins and trash cans for these normally discarded pieces. I began melting them back down into large plates that I could experiment with. One of these experiments became Tortured Landscapes a kiln formed series, as well as Repurposed Failures a blown glass series that incorporates the traditional murrine roll up technique with the nontraditional recycled plates.
